The LVH Story

Many years ago, a kind man and his family opened the Lebanon Animal Hospital here in this house. Dr. Baldwin and his family lived in the home, and he worked out of the basement and went on farm calls. The picture below was found during renovations, and we wanted to preserve it.  The basement used to have a phone next to a peg board where he jotted directions out to the farms that he visited. As his reputation grew, so did his business and he remodeled the dairy delivery barn to make a small veterinary hospital.  He served his patients and the community for over 20 years in this location.

In 2004, Dr. Steven Zickmann and his wife, Susan, made the decision to purchase Dr. Baldwin’s practice and also made the house their home.  They renamed the hospital to the “Lebanon Veterinary Hospital” (LVH) and spent many years serving patients and participating in the community. They raised their family here and grew right along with Lebanon and it’s love for pets.  Dr. Zickmann answered emergencies in the evening and even taught Susan, who was a finance person, the basics to enable her to help him at night!  As demand grew, they began looking for a like-minded, hard-working person to share the work of the growing practice.

Flash forward to 2018 and the Zickmann’s met Dr. Brianna Molter. Dr. Molter was a newly minted veterinarian who was hard-working and devoted to animals.  She had a special interest and talent in ultrasonography and helped the practice utilize new modalities to help even more patients.

Dr. Zickmann, Susan and Dr. Molter knew they had something special together and the Zickmann’s asked her to become their partner.  Dr. Molter was excited to join the team, and we have not looked back.

From our humble beginnings to this amazing space you are in, we feel fortunate to be a part of history.  This house is almost 200 years old and even housed a Civil War governor at one time.  We are all sure of one thing-this house has generations of love, laughter, and life.  This house is special, and we hope you feel it too! It has stood for hundreds of years and could tell many stories, but we hope you and your pet will have your own story here.

Enjoy our space, enjoy what it offers, feel the love and the care of all the generations that have come before us.
